It appears that Democrat Carolina Fayard WILL slip past Sammy Kershaw for the second spot in the runoff for Lieutenant Governor against Republican Secretary of State Jay Dardenne.
Last minute media buys by Fayard and the support for ex-President Bill Clinton helped give the first-time candidate a last minute surge, overwhelming fellow Democrat and State Senator Butch Gautreaux.
First bad "call" since the Webb election in 2006 in Virginia.

Fayard having 33,000 more votes than Kershaw is "slipping" by him?
I guess Dardenne slipped by Fayard into first.
Oy-
I sent that over before the full numbers from Orleans were available. At the time she was "slipping" past Kershaw as he was leading her. Her appearance in the runoff is going to be causing much tightening of "something" on the Fourth Floor of the Capitol. In no way did I intend to marginalize her candidacy. Looking at the absentee it appeared Gautreaux was going to cut her bad in the south and with low Dem turnout, it seems like the perfect formula for Kershaw to "slip" in to the runoff. Like I said, it was a rare mulligan on an Early Call, mainly because I was distracted by some politicians who wouldn't get off the phone and let me blog in peace.
